Honored to Be Recognized by RealTrends Verified: What This Recognition Means for My Clients

by Zach Otten

Published June 17, 2026

When I first got into real estate in 2008, my goal wasn't to make rankings.

My goal wasn't to win awards.

My goal wasn't to see my name on industry lists.

My goal was simple:

Help people make smart real estate decisions and be the kind of REALTOR® they would confidently recommend to their family and friends.

Eighteen years later, that goal hasn't changed.

That's why I'm incredibly honored to share that I have been recognized in the 2026 RealTrends Verified rankings, one of the most respected performance benchmarks in the real estate industry.

While I'm grateful for the recognition, what matters most to me isn't the ranking itself.

It's what the recognition represents.

Because behind every transaction count, every sales volume statistic, and every ranking is a family, a life transition, a major financial decision, and a client who trusted me to help guide them through the process.

What Is RealTrends Verified?

For those unfamiliar with RealTrends, it is widely considered one of the most respected and trusted ranking organizations in residential real estate.

RealTrends has been analyzing real estate performance data for approximately three decades and recognizes top-performing agents, teams, and brokerages across the country. The organization independently verifies production data and highlights what it describes as the top-performing real estate professionals nationwide.

Unlike many awards that can be based on nominations, sponsorships, or company recognition programs, RealTrends focuses on verified production and performance metrics.

According to RealTrends, their rankings spotlight the top 1.5% of real estate professionals across the country based on independently verified performance data.

That's what makes the recognition meaningful.

It's based on actual results.

Why Recognition Matters (And Why It Doesn't)

This may sound strange coming from someone writing a blog about an industry recognition, but hear me out.

Awards don't sell homes.

Rankings don't negotiate contracts.

Recognition doesn't automatically make someone the right REALTOR® for you.

What awards and rankings can do, however, is provide evidence of consistency.

They can show that an agent has:

  • Experience

  • Market knowledge

  • Transaction volume

  • A proven track record

But at the end of the day, what matters most is how those skills translate into client outcomes.

That's where the real value lies.

Real Estate Is About People, Not Statistics

One thing I've learned over the years is that every transaction tells a story.

Behind every closing is a family facing a major life decision.

I've worked with:

  • First-time homebuyers purchasing their very first home

  • Families upsizing because they need more space

  • Seniors downsizing after decades in the same home

  • Relocation clients moving across the country

  • Investors building long-term wealth

  • Clients navigating divorce

  • Adult children helping aging parents transition

Every one of those situations requires something different.

That's why I often say:

Real estate is less about houses and more about helping people through life transitions.

The rankings reflect production.

The relationships reflect purpose.

Building a Business Through Referrals

One of the accomplishments I'm most proud of isn't a ranking.

It's the fact that the majority of my business comes from repeat clients and referrals.

That means people I've helped in the past continue to trust me years later.

It means clients introduce me to:

  • Friends

  • Family members

  • Coworkers

  • Neighbors

And to me, that's one of the highest compliments possible.

Because referrals aren't earned through advertising.

They're earned through experience.

What Sets My Approach Apart?

Every REALTOR® has access to the MLS.

Every REALTOR® can unlock a door.

Every REALTOR® can complete paperwork.

The difference often comes down to process.

Over the years I've developed specialized systems designed around the clients I serve most often.

The Peak Elevation Homes Move-Up Concierge

One of my specialties is helping homeowners sell their current home and purchase a larger one.

Many move-up buyers face questions like:

  • Should we buy first?

  • Should we sell first?

  • How much equity do we have?

  • How do we coordinate timelines?

The Move-Up Concierge was created to help clients navigate those decisions with confidence.

The Peak Elevation Senior Transition Concierge

Another area of focus is helping seniors and their families navigate downsizing.

For many clients, downsizing isn't simply a real estate transaction.

It's a major life transition involving:

  • Memories

  • Logistics

  • Family dynamics

  • Financial planning

These situations require patience, empathy, and a clear process.

A Construction Background That Helps Clients

Before becoming a REALTOR®, I earned a degree in Construction Management from Colorado State University.

That background allows me to evaluate homes differently than many agents.

When touring a property, I'm often looking beyond finishes and décor.

I'm evaluating:

  • Construction quality

  • Maintenance concerns

  • Potential future issues

  • Long-term value considerations

Many clients appreciate having an advocate who can help identify potential concerns before they become expensive surprises.

Why Local Knowledge Matters

As a Colorado native, I've spent my life in this market.

I understand the nuances of communities throughout South Metro Denver, including:

  • Parker

  • Castle Rock

  • Highlands Ranch

  • Littleton

  • Centennial

  • Aurora

  • Castle Pines

  • Denver

Real estate is hyperlocal.

Two homes separated by only a few miles can experience very different market dynamics.

That's why local expertise remains so important.

What Clients Are Really Looking For

When people hire a REALTOR®, they often think they're looking for someone who can help them buy or sell a home.

In reality, I believe most clients are looking for something else.

They're looking for confidence.

They want to know:

  • They're making a good decision

  • They aren't missing anything important

  • Someone is looking out for their interests

  • They have a trusted advisor in their corner

That's the role I strive to fill.

The Market Has Changed. The Need for Guidance Hasn't.

Technology has transformed real estate.

Today buyers can:

  • Search homes online

  • View virtual tours

  • Research neighborhoods

  • Estimate home values

Sellers have access to more information than ever before.

Yet despite all that information, clients still need guidance.

In many ways, they need it more than ever.

Because information is abundant.

Wisdom is harder to find.

Looking Ahead

Making the RealTrends Verified list is an honor.

But rankings aren't a finish line.

They're simply a snapshot in time.

My focus remains exactly where it was when I started:

  • Serving clients at a high level

  • Continuing to improve

  • Providing honest advice

  • Building long-term relationships

  • Helping people navigate life's big moves

Those priorities don't change because of an award.

If anything, recognition creates a greater responsibility to continue earning the trust clients place in me.

Thank You

I wouldn't be writing this blog post without the incredible clients, friends, family members, referral partners, and community members who have supported me throughout my career.

Every referral.

Every introduction.

Every review.

Every opportunity to help.

They all contributed to this recognition.

And for that, I am genuinely grateful.

Final Thoughts

While I'm honored to be recognized by RealTrends Verified, what matters most isn't the ranking itself.

It's what helped create it:

  • Trust

  • Relationships

  • Consistency

  • Client advocacy

  • Long-term commitment to serving others

Those are the things that have guided my business from the beginning.

And those are the things that will continue guiding it moving forward.

If you're considering buying, selling, downsizing, relocating, or simply want a conversation about your real estate goals, I'd be honored to help.
